Job Description :

The City of NY - DoITT is seeking a UX Research Lead to enhance the digital experience for New Yorkers . The ideal candidate will have expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, user behavior analysis, usability testing, and human-centered design .

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative user research to understand user actions, needs, and motivations. (8 years)
  • Develop and execute a User Experience Research Plan for different product phases (discovery, definition, testing, monitoring). (8 years)
  • Design, analyze, and synthesize data insights through surveys, workshops, usability testing, and A / B testing . (8 years)
  • Compile well-documented research findings to deliver actionable insights for stakeholders. (8 years)
  • Lead multiple UX research workstreams and facilitate in-person and virtual research sessions . (8 years)
  • Work with UX designers and developers to implement user research findings into product and service improvements . (8 years)
  • Inspire City partners to adopt human-centered design, data-driven methodologies, and evidence-based solutions . (8 years)

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Data Science, Statistics ).
  • 8 years of experience conducting UX research, usability testing, A / B testing, and user interviews.
  • Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies .
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret patterns, trends, and statistical principles .
  • Proven experience leading UX research initiatives in cross-functional teams (product, engineering, policy, and data experts).
  • Ability to prevent research biases and ensure data validity .
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex findings into actionable insights .
  • Experience working with city government agencies is a plus.

    Required Skills & Experience : PowerBuilder Development (version 7 or higher) – 5 years T-SQL Query Writing (Sybase / MS SQL Server) – 10 years Data Management (profiling, mapping, validation, analysis) – 10 years Source Control (TFS / Azure DevOps, Git) – 5 years Unit Testing & Documentation – 10 years Testing & Production Support – 5 years Change Management – 5 years Minimum Qualifications : Some college education in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related fields Experience working in a hybrid office environment Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies This role requires a strong understanding of database management, system design patterns, and best practices in software development. The candidate must possess excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to communicate technical concepts effectively with both technical and business teams.
