As part of the Managed Services team, the Labor Relations Specialist will utilize expertise in labor relations law, principles, and practices to support federal agency labor-management programs effectively.
Responsibilities :
- Advise management officials, including senior leaders, on strategies for addressing labor relations issues and ensure agency responses to labor-related matters comply with contractual and regulatory deadlines.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to management and senior leadership on sensitive, complex, and high-profile LR issues involving diverse occupations and working conditions.
- Explain rules and procedures to employees and management to help them understand rights and obligations, fostering objectivity in potentially emotionally charged situations.
- Offer interpretation of policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements to management.
- Conduct extensive analysis to identify underlying causes of workplace challenges, including misconduct or poor performance, and recommend corrective actions based on mitigating and aggravating factors.
- Prepare agency responses to labor-related disputes, grievances, and other matters, ensuring adherence to labor agreements and federal guidelines.
- Advise on trends and best practices in managing labor relations challenges to improve organizational effectiveness.
