What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Supervisor position at Gowan USA?
Gowan Milling is looking for a Logistics Supervisor at the Yuma facility. This position will report directly to the Logistics Manager.
Role Responsibilities:
- Coordination of shipping and receiving activities
- Tracking of daily production and material usage
- Coordination with production supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of production schedules
- Provide leadership to the logistics team by overseeing their daily operations and resolving any production-related issues
- Customer production invoicing
- Act as a liaison between production staff and senior management to communicate progress, obstacles, and key performance metrics
- Assist in training, mentoring, and evaluating production staff to ensure adherence to quality standards and operational procedures
- Switchboard operations
- Typing and word processing
- Attend customer meetings, offering guidance and feedback on production timelines and performance
- Conduct annual inventory audits with customers, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting
- Oversee and support the development of production schedules to align with customer requirements and internal capabilities
- Identify and implement process improvements within the manufacturing and logistics departments
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all manufacturing and logistical processes
Experience / Skills / Abilities:
- Occasionally required to move around plant site and production buildings.
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects 5-30 lbs.
- Ability to bend, twist, sit, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and crawl.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP / Microsoft / JD Edwards E1)
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures
- Strong Math skills necessary for completion of assigned tasks (Formulations, Bill of materials, inventory loss and gain)
- Working knowledge of general front office procedures and office etiquette
- Knowledge of DOT requirements
