The Role:
The Controller oversees financial management, operational efficiency, cross-functional collaboration, compliance, and data-driven decision-making while leading a large accounts team and driving strategic improvements across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee an Accounts team of over 20 with offices in Toronto and Manila.
- Lead the Accounts Payables, Cash Management, and Financial Reporting teams
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Analyze current business processes and identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement.
- Implement strategies and tools to enhance operational productivity, cost savings, and process automation.
- Collaborate with teams to develop and enforce best practices across departments.
- Support for Cross-Functional Efficiency:
- Work closely with the management team to identify and address operational challenges in other departments, such as sales and operations.
- Provide data-driven recommendations and assist in implementing process improvements that streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
- Act as a trusted advisor, offering insights and tools that empower teams to achieve their objectives more effectively.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Provide financial guidance and recommendations to the executive team.
- Train and mentor accounting staff to ensure high performance and growth.
- Act as a cross-functional liaison, ensuring alignment between finance, sales, and operations.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to government and other regulations
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and data integrity.
- Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards.
- Utilize financial and operational data to recommend business improvements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Experience in the travel industry is a plus.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with travel industry software is a bonus.
