Job Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for the daily accounting and budget operations of the company to include the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. The Controller will compile, review and perform analysis on financial reports. Monitor the company’s financial activity and performance and ensure compliance. Assist the VP of Finance in financial planning, analysis, reporting and creation of financial models. The Controller will manage the accounting and budget teams and will work closely with other members of the Finance Department and leaders across the company and our parent company.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain accuracy and integrity of general ledger activity and related financial reporting.
· Review reconciliations of all general ledger balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
· Oversee preparation of monthly and seasonal financial and statistical reports.
· Responsible for designing and implementing the month-end close process and ensuring all aspects are working efficiently and effectively to include the Advertising/Circulation month-end closings and system balancing.
· Design and assume responsibility for effective financial internal controls and monitor the company’s compliance.
· Responsible for all aspects of Advertising/Circulation cash receipts and payment postings
· Ensure company’s compliance with tax reporting requirements
· Maintain accounting of inventory and tracking of capital expenditures.
· Analyze financial data by collecting, monitoring and creating financial models for decision support
· Provide ad hoc reports as needed, both existing and newly created
· When managing the accounting functions, organize and assign tasks ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient completion.
· Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with a broad spectrum of people in the company and outside organizations.
· Mentor and train finance team.
· Allow and promote active interdepartmental teamwork and participation in special project teams.
· React to change productively and handle other essential duties as assigned.
· Participate actively as part of team in everyday work and/or on special project teams.
· Drive continuous improvement; identify ways to create efficiencies

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related experience
· At least 5 years of general accounting experience
· At least 2 years of experience managing people

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
