What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Safety Technician position at Goyette Mechanical Company?
Currently, Goyette Mechanical Company has an immediate opening for a Site Safety Supervisor in our Construction Department at worksites near South Bend, Indiana.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reinforce that team members on the project site are in compliance with safety requirements mandated by the owner or general contractor of the current contract in addition to Goyette Mechanical’s Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure that appropriate safety records are maintained
- Responsible for investigating and completing incident investigations to determine the root cause and corrective actions necessary
- Responsible for timely reporting and tracking of all team member worksite injuries
- Ensure project safety pre-planning, subcontractor pre-qualification, and pre-construction meetings are completed as required
- Responsible for conducting job site-specific training
- Assist will all necessary job site inspections including color coding, fall protection, equipment inspections and job hazard assessments (JHAs)
- Be onsite to supervise and assist during the performance of any high risk activities
- Works closely with IN Safety Manager, Project Managers and Superintendents to implement a safety and education training program in compliance with the Goyette Mechanical.

Qualifications:
- Strong verbal & written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and comfortably with customers and employees over the phone and in person
- Strong organizational skills are required
- Previous experience with a construction or service company
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work based on deadlines; excellent time management skills are necessary to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy are highly critical in this role.
- Must be able to foster and support a teamwork environment, placing a high emphasis on excellent customer service
- Proven ability to foster a positive and productive safety culture while promoting cooperation and improved morale throughout the division.
- OSHA 510 at minimum
Working Conditions
- This position is a 90% field safety position with 10% office environment for administrative duties.
- Travel to jobsites near South Bend, IN and surrounding areas.
- Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Tolerant to prolonged standing and movement on foot.
