Operations/Eng - Intern

The Operations/Eng Intern will learn from and assist the operations team, which is comprised of the system build, standard build, supply chain and machining departments, along with corresponding support teams. You will also learn and use systems which support our business to include SolidWorks, our ERP software, and our CRM software.

·      Assist ops departments in the assembly of products and systems, complete through the system run-off process.

·      Troubleshoot system issues.

·      Learn systems which drive our business.

·      Learn our products and services.

·      Gain an understanding of all functional areas of GP Reeves.

·      Participate in all company functions and meetings.

·      Other duties as assigned.

·      Actively enrolled in a degree in engineering or design program.

·      Mechanical aptitude

·      Employee is skilled in using associated PC software including Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

·      Problem solving

·      Mechanical Skills (Able to use basic hand tools and power tools)

·      Understanding of basic electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic Systems

·      Ability to work effectively in a team

·      Desire to learn and grow through a hands-on approach.

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a project manager involving coordinating peer activities to completion.

• Physical Demands: 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and be able to move about in an outdoor, warehouse, and machine shop environment. 
  • Operate computer, machinery, tools, vehicles, and industrial equipment and must have the ability to use hands to move, set up, adjust, assemble, control, test, operate, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Constantly communicate and exchange information with team members and must be able to effectively communicate correct information with vendors. 

o   Read/comprehend, write, communicate orally, reasoning, and analytical abilities, and mental flexibility. 

• • Frequently move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee will constantly climb, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach above shoulder when working with equipment, material loading and unloading, and other related tasks. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to compare and distinguish material grades and administrative data. 

o   Hearing ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking level with or without correction.  Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.

·         Work Environment: 

o   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working indoors in machine shop facility which has non-controlled environmental conditions. 

o   Exposure to hazardous materials, extreme heat, and proximity to moving mechanical parts. 

o   Requires wearing common protective and safety equipment.

o   Position may involve extended work hours. 

o   Exposure to sound and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for installation support or service on domestic trips usually within driving distance of our headquarters.
