Key Responsibilities
- Quote, program, and set up new parts and processes in CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate machining.
- Accurately determine cycle times, fixturing, and tooling requirements based on print specifications.
- Work with vendors to source tooling and optimize machining processes.
- Layout and set up CNC machines for efficient operation.
- Program CNC machines using CAM software and manually edit G-code as needed.
- Perform first-piece inspections and adjust setups to ensure precision and quality standards.
- Inspect parts throughout the machining process, from setup through first-piece approval.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machining processes and workflow.
- Document setup instructions and best practices for repeatability and process improvement.
- Minimum 3 years of CNC horizontal/vertical milling experience in a precision machining environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications.
- Experience quoting new parts, programming, and determining cycle times, tooling, and fixturing requirements.
- Ability to work with vendors to procure tooling and improve machining efficiency.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and setup of new parts.
- Familiarity with CAM software and G-code editing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Experience with multi-axis machining.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
- Prior experience working in an ISO-certified environment.
