The Department Manager - Structural Engineering will lead and manage the structural engineering department, ensuring the successful delivery of projects from conception through completion. This role involves overseeing technical operations, managing personnel, and driving business development initiatives to expand structural engineering services.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management:
- Develop, manage, and mentor a team of structural engineers and designers, fostering professional growth and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
- Oversee the design and implementation of structural engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
- Manage multiple structural design projects, from initial concept through completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Business Development:
- Develop and implement departmental strategies and goals in line with the overall company vision and objectives.
- Participate in business development activities, including client engagement and proposal development, to secure new projects and expand the firm's market presence.
- Implement rigorous quality control procedures to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct regular quality audits and reviews to identify and address potential issues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the structural engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing complex projects.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee large-scale structural engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in structural engineering software
