The Environmental Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will oversee environmental initiatives and process improvements while supporting manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance & Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management compliance policies and procedures in accordance with ISO 14001.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local environmental regulations, including hazardous material management, waste disposal, air and water quality standards, and chemical safety.
- Serve as the primary contact for federal, state, and local environmental agencies.
- Monitor, track, and report environmental data related to emissions, wastewater, hazardous materials, and other environmental factors.
- Oversee environmental permitting, including stormwater, air quality, and hazardous waste.
- Develop and conduct training for employees related to environmental compliance and best practices.
- Support manufacturing operations by identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Utilize Lean principles, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies to improve production processes.
- Manage capital projects, facility modifications, and the implementation of new technologies.
- Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to resolve production and environmental challenges.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and other quality management standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering
- 5 years of experience in environmental roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to obtain certifications for RCRA Hazardous Wastes MGMT, Texas Hazardous Industrial Waste MGMT, Hazmat Ground Shipper, and HAZWOPER (Incident Commander Level V).
- Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, SARA, DOT HAZMAT).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and CAD software (AutoCAD,).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to train employees and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Work may be performed in both office and manufacturing environments, with exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and industrial chemicals.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required based on work conditions.

Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
