Job Title : Structural Steel Estimating Manager / Chief Estimator
Position Summary :
We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Estimating Manager / Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of structural steel erection, as well as heavy equipment lifting and rigging. This position requires the ability to develop comprehensive estimates from start to finish, manage a team of estimators, and collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate proposals and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the estimating department and manage a team of estimators in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel erection and heavy equipment lifting / rigging.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and scope of work to develop detailed and precise cost estimates for both structural steel fabrication and erection, as well as rigging and lifting operations.
- Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs, including the necessary heavy equipment and rigging needs, ensuring all aspects of the project are covered.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and clients to clarify project requirements, resolve discrepancies, and optimize costs.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of bid proposals, ensuring they are submitted on time and in accordance with client specifications.
- Assess risks associated with the projects and provide mitigation strategies to avoid cost overruns and delays.
- Develop relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to enhance business development and secure new projects.
- Mentor and train junior estimators to improve estimating skills and efficiency within the department.
- Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and equipment technologies to ensure competitive estimates and adherence to industry standards.
- Ensure all estimates and proposals comply with safety regulations, industry best practices, and legal requirements.
