We are looking for a highly skilled Commercial Doors, Framing, and Hardware Estimator to join our team. This role involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects, specifically focusing on doors, framing systems, and hardware.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction, including door and framing systems, as well as proficiency in Comsense Estimating Software for generating precise estimates.
You will work closely with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure all aspects of the project are accurately estimated, tracked, and delivered within budget.
Key Responsibilities :
Cost Estimating and Bid Preparation :
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine the materials, labor, and other resources required for doors, framing, and hardware systems.
- Generate accurate and detailed cost estimates, covering labor, materials, and other relevant costs.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals for doors, framing, and hardware systems, ensuring competitive pricing while meeting the project’s scope and budget.
Material Takeoffs and Quantification :
- Perform detailed material takeoffs for doors, frames, hardware components, and framing systems.
- Calculate quantities and assess pricing for each item needed in the project, including door types, framing materials, hardware, and accessories.
Software Utilization (Comsense Estimating) :
- Use Comsense Estimating Software to produce accurate estimates, manage bid proposals, and track project costs.
- Ensure the software is correctly configured for each project, providing real-time updates and changes as they occur.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination :
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain current material pricing and availability, ensuring estimates reflect the most up-to-date information.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure smooth communication regarding material procurement and delivery timelines.
Project Collaboration :
- Work closely with project managers, field personnel, and subcontractors to verify project specifications and ensure estimates align with construction schedules and requirements.
- Address any discrepancies between design plans and the estimate, proposing solutions or adjustments when needed.
Budgeting and Cost Control :
- Provide support in developing and maintaining project budgets for commercial door, framing, and hardware systems.
- Analyze material and labor costs to recommend cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
Client and Team Communication :
- Communicate with clients to clarify scope, specifications, and expectations regarding door, framing, and hardware systems.
- Assist clients with technical information and help address any questions related to project estimates and material choices.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Experience : Proven experience in estimating for commercial doors, framing systems, and hardware for large-scale construction projects.
- Software Proficiency : Strong knowledge of Comsense Estimating Software or other estimating software commonly used in the construction industry.
- Technical Knowledge : In-depth understanding of door, framing, and hardware systems, including commercial door types, frames, hardware specifications, and construction methods.
- Blueprint Interpretation : Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
- Attention to Detail : Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform accurate material takeoffs and calculate quantities and costs effectively.
- Communication Skills : Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
- Time Management : Ability to manage multiple estimates and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to find cost-effective solutions for complex projects.
