The Grain Elevator Location Manager carries out supervisory functions in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. This work includes managing customer relationships, budgeting, profit and loss stewardship, and managing staff.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for directing employees in all aspects of operations and origination, including unloading and loading of grain commodities.
- Oversee and provide direction, guidance, feedback, mentoring, and coaching to all direct reports at the location.
- Create and foster an inclusive work environment, including involvement in all employee training and meetings.
- Responsible for timecard management for all direct reports.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures, including OSHA regulations, vehicle policy, fleet safety program, and DOT regulations.
- Maintain and grow grain volume and overall sales for the location.
- Build relationships and establish trust with new and current customers, promoting grain marketing products, services, and programs that meet customer needs within the company's portfolio.
- Work with grain merchandisers to plan and direct grain marketing update meetings and grain sales programs.
- Coordinate distribution, maintain quality, and sales in accordance with company policies and procedures on grain commodities.
- Maintain a profitable location through continuous walk-throughs of the facility, managing staffing levels, expense management, revenue maximization, and risk management.
- Create an annual business plan to forecast the upcoming year's balance sheet.
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed by upper management, including meetings, training, recruiting, community relations, and other operating tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned during day-to-day operations and activities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two (2) years of related experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.
- Must be eligible to legally work in the United States.
- English proficiency required.
- Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA, EPA, and policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices, including program planning, contract requirements, budgeting, direction, coordination, and evaluation.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships within and outside the organization.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.
- Valid CDL Class A driver's license or ability to obtain (company may assist with this).
- Regular use of hands to handle, finger, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to taste or smell.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to perform safely when working up to 80 hours during certain times of the year.
- Regular exposure to fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electrical shock.
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, high or precarious places, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
