The Head of Risk Management is a leadership role that oversees grain origination, executes commodity strategies, and manages company risk. Key Responsibilities
- Risk Management and Reporting :
- Adhere strictly to the companys Risk Management Policy, using approved tools and strategies to safeguard margins and mitigate exposure to market volatility
- Prepare and present
- Strategic Grain Origination :
- Lead grain origination programs to minimize basis adjustments and engage farmers through innovative marketing
- Manage long / short commodity positions, corn basis adjustments, and deferred cash bids
- Identify and secure new corn purchasing opportunities
- Market Expansion and Compliance :
- Develop additional ethanol market opportunities and manage wet cake marketing strategies
- Oversee carbon reduction initiatives and broader regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with industry standards and company goals
- detailed monthly reports, including commodity positions, risks, and trends, for board meetings to support strategic decision-making
- Operational Oversight :
- Optimize inventories for all commodities, including railcars, ensuring efficient operations and alignment with company objectives
- Manage and oversee the sales of ethanol, wet cake, and distillers grains to maximize returns
- Industry Engagement and Innovation :
- Stay informed of market trends by attending relevant conferences, workshops, and industry events as needed
- Consult with participating brokers to analyze commodity trends and inform procurement strategies
