What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Technician position at gpac?
Position: Mechanical Technician
The mechanical technician will provide project maintenance and preventive maintenance and repair support for plant facility.
Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
- Inspect molds and dovetail puller assemblies regularly during clean-outs and/or after a melting campaign
- Make repairs and/or cooridnate repairs with melt shop foreman
- Recommend any modifications to improve the reliability and productivity of the Electron Beam Furnace
- Maintain & trouble shoot machines with emphasis on down time reduction including but not limited to compressors, ocnveyors, sprinkler systems, washers and blowers
- Analyze equipment & processes for improvement of safety, quality, cycle time & reliability.
- Provide assistance to maintenance & production engineering members when needed.
- Operate forklifts, cranes and light duty vehicles
- Move, place, dismantle, set-up and align all types of plant machines and equipment
- Assemble and install prefab metal racks, cabinets, etc
- Perform necessary rigging operation
- Assist with the rebuilding of hydraulic and other mechanical plant equipment
Requirements:
- 2 years experience with mechanical maintenance and repair including plumbing, silver soldering and experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to weld; copper weld and TIG/MIG or stick welding
- Must be able to wear a respirator
- Electron Beam Furnace Operator experience is desired
- High School diploma/GED required; trade school degree is desired
There is a lot of potential in this position to grow and develop within the company progressing from Mechanical Tech 1 up to a Master Mechanic.
