Part-Time Weekend Division Secretary hours Saturday & Sunday from 8 am - 1 pm.
Job Summary: Functions as the division's receptionist and handles the clerical aspects of the patient care unit's operations
Education: High school graduate or equivalent; Associate's degree in business or communications preferable.
Experience: Previous experience in a medical setting preferred.
Other: Knowledge of medical terminology; excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills; Computer skills.
Must have or be willing to get FLU VACCINE.
Responsibilities:
- Performs clerical duties on the nursing unit including transcription of physician orders; assembling of new charts; maintaining desk charts with adequate amounts of Physician Order Forms and Progress Notes; filing of clinical reports on medical records, Preparing copies of medical records as needed for ambulance services and discharge preparation; preparing maintenance repair requisitions.*
- Manages desk communication by answering telephones and intercoms.*
- Coordinates the deliveries of specimens, requisitions, and equipment. Assists in the ordering of supplies.*
- Delivers mail, flowers, and messages to patients.*
- Prepares charts for physician rounding.*
- Maintains the Patient Information Board.*
- May act as receptionist and receive and direct visitors.
- Provides intervention to maintain patient confidentiality, privacy, and dignity.*
- Coordinates patient services under the direction of the Nurse Manager and Resource Nurse.*
- Prepares for and responds to emergency situations.
- Coordinates requests for physician consults and initiates contact with consulting physician.
- Assists in the absence of Health Information Analyst in admission, transfer, and discharge process
- Performs other duties as assigned.
