Grace Steet is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) in Easton that provides non-clinical, peer-led supports for people affected by substance use. This includes harm reduction, street outreach, peer support, groups, workforce training and development, and more.
Position Overview: CPRS Harm Reduction Specialist willprovide no barrier harm reduction outreach and care within Caroline and/or Talbot County along with Grace Street peers. Candidates for this position must understand and respect every individual’s unique pathway of recovery and have a working knowledge of harm reduction principles, resources, and working within marginalized communities. People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to people who use drugs, mostly in public settings.
- Present and discuss harm reduction information and materials.
- Provide referrals as appropriate for medical, behavioral and other health services.
- Conduct outreach and overdose training to businesses and other community organizations.
- Assist with data collection, entry and reconciliation.
- Provide support for 24-hour peer line as needed.
- Identify and develop connections with treatment and community resources and providers.
- Maintain appropriate personal, professional and ethical boundaries.
- Reports to Program Director/Registered Peer Supervisor.
- Attend trainings and meetings as directed by Program Director.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Current driver’s license.
- Certified Peer Support Specialist preferred, or willingness to become certified.
- Be familiar with and facilitate referrals to treatment and community resources and providers when appropriate.
· Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with a diverse range of clientele including individuals who are actively using substances and living with significant health challenges.
· Computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Have no current criminal justice system involvement.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week
Schedule:
- Evenings as needed
- Evening shift
- Weekends as needed
