What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Team Member (Grounds) position at Graceland Church?
The Church Facilities Team Member overseeing grounds will be responsible for maintaining the outdoor areas of the church property to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all church activities and visitors. This role includes landscaping, lawn care, grounds cleanup, and minor outdoor repairs to maintain the aesthetics and functionality of the church grounds. While this will be a primary focus, this position will support general facilities operations as needed.
As a leader in our church, there is an expectation that you will be/become a member of Graceland Church and minister to both employees and congregants.
1. Grounds Maintenance:
a. Mow, trim, and edge lawns regularly to maintain neat and tidy grounds.
b. Weed, mulch, and maintain flower beds, shrubbery, and landscaping features.
c. Water plants and lawns as needed based on seasonal requirements.
d. Rake leaves, remove debris, and keep all outdoor spaces free from litter and hazards.
2. Outdoor Repair and Upkeep:
a. Inspect and maintain outdoor structures (e.g., fences, gates, walkways, signage).
b. Repair and replace damaged outdoor equipment and fixtures, including benches, outdoor lights, and trash receptacles.
c. Ensure that parking lots, walkways, and outdoor stairways are safe and free from hazards, including snow and ice removal during winter months.
3. Special Projects and Event Support:
a. Assist in the setup and takedown of events.
b. Coordinate with event planners and staff to prepare the grounds for special church events and services.
c. Work with the facilities team to plan and execute seasonal landscape projects or improvements.
4. Health and Safety Compliance:
a. Ensure that the grounds meet health and safety standards, including fire safety regulations and accessibility requirements.
b. Monitor and manage pest control, taking proactive steps to keep pests under control in outdoor areas.
5. Equipment and Supplies Management:
a. Maintain and store landscaping tools and equipment properly to ensure longevity and safety.
b. Track inventory of supplies needed for grounds maintenance (e.g., mulch, fertilizer, lawn care products).
c. Assist in the procurement of tools and supplies as needed within budgetary constraints.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
a. Communicate regularly with the Facilities Manager/Director to report issues, needs, and improvements to the grounds.
b. Collaborate with other team members to ensure all areas of the church are well-maintained and functional.
c. Act as a point of contact for any facilities-related inquiries or concerns from church staff and members regarding the outdoor spaces.
