Position Overview

The Facilities Team Member plays a vital role in ensuring the effective operation, safety, and appearance of the church’s facilities. This person will work as part of the Facilities Team under the guidance of the Facilities Director, performing general maintenance, equipment upkeep, and cleaning, as well as handling event setups and improvement projects. This role requires flexibility, with some weekend and evening hours, and calls for an individual who is skilled, dependable, and service-minded. 


Job Duties

  • Facilities Maintenance
    • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure the church’s facilities remain functional and in excellent condition, embodying a proactive approach to addressing needs.
    • Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, and equipment for events and ministry activities with attention to detail, efficiency, and a focus on creating an excellent environment for the church community.
    • Complete painting, groundskeeping, and preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled.
    • Proactively identify facility improvements and initiate solutions, maintaining an eye for excellence in all maintenance efforts.
  • Improvement Projects
    • Assist in a range of construction, landscaping, and equipment installation projects to enhance the facility.
    • Participate in renovation projects and special improvement initiatives that elevate the quality and functionality of the church.
    • Collaborate with the Facilities Team on ideas and strategies for facility upgrades and improvements.
  • Cleaning
    • Support contracted cleaning services by performing additional cleaning tasks as needed, including carpet extraction, polishing floors, spot cleaning, and trash removal.
    • Ensure high-traffic areas remain presentable, particularly before and after events.
  • Professional Contractor and Vendor Interaction
    • Interface with contractors and vendors, including HVAC, cleaning, and supply services, in a professional and courteous manner to coordinate and complete maintenance and service tasks.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with contractors to ensure all facility needs are met in alignment with church standards and mission.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in facility management, HVAC, or construction-related fields are a plus.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a contractor or facility maintenance role, preferably in a large church, corporate, or institutional setting, or related experience, preferred.
  • Experience working with HVAC systems or building maintenance is highly preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong personal faith and alignment with the core values and mission of Northside (C3 Faithfulness as outlined below).
  • Strong knowledge of general building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in operating various hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in facility-related scenarios, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, able to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to discern needs and respond proactively and sensitively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing time effectively to complete tasks independently or as part of a team, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • A commitment to serving the church and a passion for supporting its ministry efforts.

  • Weekend Gathering - regular attendance and participation in congregational worship (present for 75% of weekend gatherings throughout the year)
  • Life-Changing Community - regular attendance and participation in a Life Group, micro group, or another intentional and regular gathering where prayer, Scripture, encouragement, and accountability is the norm.

3. CALLING
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” - 1 Peter 4:10

  • Carrying out God’s ministry for me in this season (sharpening my skills through networking as well as both formal and informal skill development)
  • Serving others with my gifting whenever the Spirit leads
