I have an immediate need for an in-home bilingual (Korean/English) ESL tutor in Pearl City on the peninsula near the Pearl City Peninsula Swimming Pool. The student is looking for a tutor who speak Korean, specifically Hangul. The student is an adult from South Korea. She wants to work with a tutor to learn the English language.
The student is able to understand and speak some broken English. She has some understanding of some words, but struggles with comprehension and grammar sequence. She also struggles with understanding the use of verbs, nouns, adjectives, and pronouns to form a proper sentence. For a non-English speaking person to learn English successfully, she and her husband believe it requires someone who can speak the Korean language (Hangul) and who understands a little bit about the Korean cultural to be an effective teacher.
The goal is for the student to improve her basic conversational English so that she can converse with ease and confidence while using proper grammar, sentence structure, etc.
The student wants 1.5 hour sessions 2 times a week, between 10am-4pm, any day Monday through Thursday.
Job Requirements
- Tutor must be willing to work face to face at the student's home in Pearl City on the peninsula near the Pearl City Peninsula Swimming Pool.
- Tutor must be bilingual in both English & Korean; specifically Hangul.
- Tutor must be available for 1.5 hour sessions 2 times a week, between 10am-4pm, any day Monday through Thursday.
- Minimal travel required to meet with student (you decide the distance you are willing to travel, typically 5-10 miles)
- Due to insurance requirements applicants must not be a minor.
