Job Description
GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direct supervision of the Aquatic Center Manager, the primary responsibility of the lifeguard is to insure a safe and comfortable environment for swimmers, to enact any lifesaving measures should a situation warrant and assist with daily facility cleaning.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Be alert at all times. Watch swimmers through safe scanning practice.
Face the water at all times. Never turn your back on the water or swimmers
Watch for hazardous situations and take the necessary action to prevent accidents. Keep all safety equipment in good repair and keep the pool area free of debris.
Perform rescues when needed. Administer emergency first aid, if necessary, to sustain life and maintain life support until qualified medical personnel arrive.
Be ready to work at the designated start of the work shift.
Maintain good communication with other staff members
Participate in periodic skills reviews and emergency procedure drills.
Appropriate station changes will be performed.
Perform other duties, as may be assigned by the pool manager
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age, 15 years old
Currently certified with American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Currently certified with Red Cross First Aid and CPR
Knowledge and experience of aquatics facilities
Positive attitude and willingness to work with the general public
PHYSICAL SKILLS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, kneel, reach and manipulate objects, talk and/or hear. This position requires mobility.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position can range from 30 – 40 hours per week including some nights and weekends. The starting rate is $14.72 per hour. Applications may be completed online at the Village of Grafton website; https://villageofgraftonwi.gov.
