The RHS Cheerleading Coach is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of a high school cheerleading squad, including teaching cheerleading skills, creating routines, leading practices, motivating athletes, ensuring safety, and representing the team at school events and competitions, while fostering a positive and supportive team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct tryouts and select cheerleaders based on skill level and commitment.
- Develop a positive team culture focused on teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit.
- Provide individual and group feedback to improve cheerleading skills.
- Teach fundamental cheerleading skills such as jumps, stunts, motions, and chants.
- Choreograph and refine cheer routines for school events and competitions.
- Oversee practice sessions, ensuring efficient use of time.
- Analyze competitor routines to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for competitions.
- Lead the cheer squad during school games, pep rallies, and other school events.
- Ensure the cheerleading squad is properly prepared and for each performance.
- Maintain a positive and enthusiastic presence to engage the crowd.
- Maintain open communication with cheerleaders, parents, and school administration.
- Adhere to school policies and guidelines regarding athletic participation and conduct.
- Manage team rosters, attendance records, and necessary paperwork.
- Coordinate fundraising activities for the cheerleading program if applicable.
