Graham County was named after the 10,516-foot Mount Graham that is the highest peak in the area. In addition to Mount Graham there are many outdoor activities ranging from walking/hiking trails, fishing, horseback riding, Disc Golf, natural hot wells, Pickleball courts, and Mount Graham Golf Course just to name a few. Graham County also boasts Eastern Arizona College which offers transfer degrees to universities and has coordinated with Arizona State University as well as Northern Arizona University to offer specific bachelor’s degree programs with EAC. Graham County is rich in history, even having five different courthouses since its existence. There is that “old town” feel with the charming and revitalized main street which offers many restaurants and shopping.

Description of responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
· Supervises overall office operations and staff in the absence of the County Attorney.
· As assigned, acts as public information officer, responding to inquiries from the media.
· Prepares for and appears as a public prosecutor at trials and hearings in the Superior Court and other courts of the county.
· Represents the County in civil matters as needed, mental health proceedings and other court proceedings, where the appearance and services of an attorney are required on behalf of the County.
· Prepares briefs, opinions, contracts, complaints, correspondence, memoranda of law and other legal documents in connection with the powers and duties of the County Attorney’s office.
· Supervises secretarial staff and legal assistants as assigned.
· Sets up and maintains files and records.
· Examines police reports and prepares complaints subject to the approval of the County Attorney.
· Prepares matters for hearing.
· Arranges for witnesses to be present and otherwise prepares for hearings in Superior Court and non-record courts within the County.
· Provides legal advice to police officers, after regular office hours if necessary.
· May be required to work irregular hours, evenings and weekends, as necessary to accomplish the assigned duties.
· Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Chief Civil Deputy County Attorney- Graduation from an accredited law school, admission to the State Bar of Arizona and five (5) years of relevant legal experience; OR, an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities of this classification; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license if position duties require.
