Position: Acting Instructional Aide (7 Hours per Day), Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Available September 2024 through no later than January 31, 2025

Duties:
The role of the instructional aide (SEL) is unique and multi-faceted. The primary goal of the position is to support all students being successful in the classroom. Key responsibilities include:
- Support students with academic tasks in class.
- Guide students in social conferences/mediation with peers.
- De-escalate situations when students are in need of support.
- Help to create a positive and supportive environment throughout the school supporting student behavior plans.
- Support a positive and productive recess and lunch climate and environment collaborating with families as needed.
- Collaborate with general education, special education, and related services staff.
- Support the office staff on an as-needed basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Toileting of students is a duty that an individual may be expected and required to perform as a paraprofessional employed by the Cambridge Public Schools.
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Instructional Aide, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- At least 2 years experience working with children
- Experience talking with families about their children’s growth at school
- Strong communication skills—with both families and children
- Ability to maintain calm in the face of challenging behaviors and situations
- Ability to de-escalate situations with adults and children
- Computer literacy including—email, Google Docs, etc.
- Associates degree or 48 college credits
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training preferred
