ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST | JOB DESCRIPTION
Grahl Construction is a Commercial General Contractor in Athens, GA seeking an organized and initiative-taking Accounting Specialist to join our team. Duties of the Accounting Specialist include working closely with our VP Finance to aid with daily and monthly accounting duties, human resource activities, and clerical needs related to all financial-related business processes. The Accounting Specialist should also support the Project Managers with administrative activities for construction projects.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the VP Finance with monthly financials, such as entering transactions into accounting system, reconciling accounts, and budget tracking.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including entering invoices and payment applications, handling billing inquiries from vendors, administering customer payments/bank deposits.
- Manage employee credit card process by ensuring compliance with policies, reconciling statements, and entering transactions into the accounting system.
- Support the VP Finance with new hire onboarding and employee terminations.
- Maintain Fixed Asset Schedules and related depreciation entries.
- Review and enter time sheet data for hourly employees.
- Assist with construction project document control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare regularly scheduled reports.
- Update and maintain office policies and procedures.
- Consult with third party safety consultants to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Special projects as needed.
SKILLS
- 3 years of proven experience in an accounting role - Accounting degree is a plus but not required.
- Experience or familiarity with the Construction industry preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Firsthand experience with MS Excel/Word and accounting software
- Current Notary Public in the State of Georgia will be required upon employment.
COMPENSATION
- Salary $60k – $80k, based on qualifications and years of experience.
