How you’ll impact our mission:
At Grammy Rose Dog Rescue & Sanctuary, we are committed to our mission to save dogs from euthanasia and provide them with quality care until we help find them their forever home. The Adoption Coordinator will support our mission by helping adoptable dogs find their new family, while creating a positive and memorable experience for prospective adopters. Having a passion to create the right match between potential adopters and the dogs on campus is a top requirement in this position.
What you’ll do in this position:
· Learn about the personalities and traits of adoptable dogs in our care in order to promote a great match for them with potential adopters
· Learn about potential adopters’ home environments, schedules, etc. to help identify which dogs in our care they’d be a good match for
· Facilitate and/or sit in on any adoption meetings
· Assist with creating training plans for any dogs in need of more training to help them be more adoptable
· Problem-solve and think creatively to provide a positive outcome for potential adopters and the dogs in our care
· Ensure the information in our dog software program is always up to date and accurate
· Routinely check the rescue’s website to determine what changes could be made to make available dogs stand out
· Tenaciously approach finding other creative ideas to escalate to your supervisor that may help get dogs in our care get adopted
· Assist with taking in any approved surrendered dogs and updating the appropriate information when doing so
· Assist at onsite and offsite adoption events
· Assist with tours of the campus as scheduled
· Cross train in reception and dog care to cover when needed
What makes someone qualified for this position:
· Having an outstanding customer service attitude
· The ability to interact with the public in a calm, profession and positive manner both in public and on the phone
· Possessing excellent written and oral communication skills
· The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Comfortable on the computer and with learning new software systems
· An understanding for what it means to make the right match between a dog and potential adopter
· Comfortable with some level of confrontation for times a potential adopter may not be a good fit for a dog they meet with
· A common sense approach to matters
· Two years of past experience working with dogs in some capacity that includes different dog breeds, different types of dog behaviors, etc.
