Position Summary:

The Valet Driver must have excellent customer service and driving skills. Must always demonstrate a sense of professionalism and courtesy that earns the trust of customers. In addition, the driver must correctly record the make, model and exact location of each vehicle parked and assist with loading or unloading luggage for guests as requested.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Open hotel main doors and assist guests/visitors entering and leaving the property.

2. Assist guests with opening/closing vehicle doors.

3. Welcome guests and visitors with appropriate greetings of the day.

4. Acknowledge and greet guests within 25 to 30 seconds and provide professional, fast, and friendly service.

5. Able to communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors.

6. Tag guest vehicle keys with date & time, registration number, make/model, room number or contact number of the guest.

7. Provide correct counter token or receipt of valet parking to the guest.

8. Verify guests token or receipt with the one attached to the key before handing over keys or vehicle to the guest.

9. Able to effectively park and retrieve guests’ cars without causing damage to the vehicle.

10. Ability to drive and operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

11. Able to provide guests with information regarding property facilities, amenities, services, hours of operation.

12. Able to provide guests with direction and local areas of interest and activities.

13. Monitor and direct personal and commercial vehicle traffic on property, including guest vehicles, taxi cabs, limousines, and buses.

14. Ensure vehicles are legally parked and to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of traffic.

15. Responsible for maintaining the security of vehicles and all belongings kept inside the car and vehicle keys.

16. Responsible for following up with guests to ensure their requests or problems have been met to their satisfaction.

17. Responsible for opening and closing parking area or facility.

18. Document and report all vehicle incidents like damages, accidents, theft, missing articles etc.

19. Review shift logs/daily memo and document any relevant details or information in logbook.

20. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor or manager.

21. Monitor and maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas, portico and behind the valet stand.

22. Responsible to report any security or safety problems, safety hazards and potential security problems to the supervisors.

23. Re-route traffic when parking facility reaches maximum capacity and ensure staff is informed.

  • Ability to communicate professionally
  • Customer service experience and friendly demeanor
  • Ability to work in a standing position for hours at a time
  • Accountability and personal integrity are essential as the nature of the position allows access to a client's personal and private information
  • Ability to multitask and tend to several customers at once
  • Experience driving vehicles with both manual and automatic transmission
  • Organizational skills are necessary to quickly recall the location of vehicles and their appropriate keys
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Minimum Knowledge:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Must speak, read, and write proficient English

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent and/or one-year related experience and/or training

License, Registration, and/or Certification required: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

External and Internal Personal Contact

Communications: Daily- Verbal and Written

Monthly- Participating in Meetings

Teamwork and Collaboration: This job is part of a formal work team within the department.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Workload Fluctuation: The workload required to perform this job requires ability to adapt to change.

Manual Skills: Must have some computer skills

Physical Effort: While performing the physical demands of this position, associates are expected to observe and adhere to safety and security procedures, promoting a safe work environment.

The physical activity normally entails the following attributes.
Position is expected to:

  • Stand more than 2/3 of the time
  • Walk more than 2/3 of the time
  • Sit less than 1/3 of the time
  • Reach with hands and arms more than 2/3 of the time
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Push / pull up to 50 pounds

Physical Environment: Indoors and outdoors, with exposure to the elements.

Work Schedule: Schedule varies due to business needs.

Occupational Risks: there are inherent risks associated with the restaurant and resort industry and may be required to take a safety training seminar.

Ergonomics Risks: The position has ergonomic risks that must understood i.e., lifting, carrying, etc.

Safety: Responsible for adhering to all safety policies and procedures of the property.

Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Regular attendance in conformance with property standards is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
