What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employer Relations Program Manager position at Grand Canyon University?
SUMMARY: Position is responsible for managing the programmatic aspects of the employer engagement operations which are to identify and meet the employer development and engagement needs of GCU by working extensively with Arizona employers as well as career services staff, faculty and key campus administrators. The program should identify employer needs and execute appropriate engagement activities while growing job/internship opportunities for GCU students and alumni. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Create, conduct, and assess an annual plan for both in- and out-of-state industry engagement to build and nurture deeper relationships with current and prospective employers and business representatives to gain an understanding of the industries within their respective portfolios, to help companies join the GCU Employer Network, and connect with university career events to hire GCU students, and follow up with companies on hiring outcomes. Develop and maintain approved metrics of employee engagement initiatives and documenting communications with employers on levels of engagement. Works with Recruitment Services team to develop industry-specific career exploration and/or employment-driven activities and events including, but not limited to, career panel discussions, site visits, topical programs, and events granting access to employers and staffing agencies, by sending employers their way. Participate in relationship building and education awareness with the colleges and other student-facing departments to build their understanding to assist students in securing appropriate internship and work experiences leading to employment or graduate school. Market on behalf of industry jobs/opportunities open to students on the Career Connections platform. Oversee projects to do so. (ADDED) Oversees over (10,000 client relationships within database) and develops relationships with industries pertaining to CCOB, CAM, COT, COE, CONHP, CSET, Honors, and CHSS. Stay current on workforce/career trends across industries and provide informational updates to GCU leadership, colleges, and stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned to advance the goals and objectives of the department and University, including the direct management and oversight of specialists and student workers. Excellent communication skills Strong knowledge of customer service principles and practices and able to model service skills for career services team. Skilled in interpersonal communications and ability to build and maintain workable relationships. Excellent planning and organizational skills with an attention to detail. Ability to work well with a diverse group of stakeholders, including employers, college leadership, university staff, colleagues, student workers, and more. Ability to prioritize, cope with changing deadlines and manage multiple activities. Strong computer skills and proficiency with software such as MS Office and applicant tracking systems. Skilled in comprehending and asse Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to counseling, human resources, or marketing from an accredited institution. Master’s Degree or degree in assigned college discipline preferred Minimum 4 years’ experience in a university career center or other environment which focuses on career/professional development Demonstrated knowledge of a client focus and problem-solving approach to working with colleagues Experience with relationship management software such as Salesforce or CRM Experience in relationship management by working with internal and external clients, employers, alumni, faculty, and students. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree or degree in assigned college discipline Proven experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with a variety of constituents that resulted in employment opportunities and/or business opportunities.
