Collections Specialist

As a Recovery Specialist, your main goal is to collect previously charged-off accounts to see if they are eligible to be re-activated or collected. The Recovery accounts have to be skipped properly by the specialist seeking a legal path for collections. The associate is also responsible for setting payment arrangements with customers that are suitable for the company and collector to resolve the debt.

Essential Functions:

• Initiating any eligible legal action on an account with no recent payment in the last 40 days
• Contact customers regarding their account with previous payments in the last 40 days and set up acceptable payment arrangements to bring their account to a recent status
• Setting accounts up on payment arrangements to get the customer account paid in full or in a good status for additional purchases
• Ability to understand how and when to negotiate with a customer
• Understand how to skip trace on a customer to locate the necessary information for the variety of accounts
• Excellent/professional oral and written communication skills with both internal and external customers and peers
• Highly organized & dependable
• Direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated resources
• Adequate negation skills

Qualifications

Required Experience:

• Minimum one year collections experience required
• Minimum two years plus customer service experience required
• Skilled at balancing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment

Education:

• High School diploma or GED
