Position: Grounds
Emphasis: Basic Grounds Maintenance; Equipment Care & Maintenance; Equipment Inspection Reports;
Painting; Maintenance Work Orders as assigned; and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Reports to: Supervisor
Description: This position is for 52 weeks per year, 40 hours per week
The position of Grounds is one that requires a person capable of performing routine grounds and building preventive maintenance, and repair in a safe and efficient manner. Along with these characteristics, this Grounds position must be able to adequately perform his / her duties as assigned and scheduled. They must be able to assist, explain or instruct other district staff in related current skills, practices and codes for safety and efficiency.
Rate of Pay: $ 15.50 - $22.00
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have and maintain a good attendance work record.
- Be clean and neat in appearance and be able to work effectively unsupervised.
- Have good physical health with no restrictions to perform duties / work assigned. Must be able to appropriately lift, climb, shovel, reach, push and be able to work from a ladder, high lift or scaffold, etc.
- Will assist in general maintenance activities during special events, programs or emergencies which may include or require overtime.
- Provide proof of or demonstrate experience and expertise in the safe, efficient use of trade tools or equipment pertinent to work assigned.
- Must have a valid Michigan Driver License with a very good driving record. Must demonstrate the safe and proper operation of district vehicles used related to work assignments. Employer may require acquisition of CDL.
- Work practices must demonstrate knowledge of safety, current codes, regulations and best practices relevant to commercial or educational institutions.
- Within 90 work days, must be able to pass EPA-OSHA Asbestos 16-hour worker training as provided by employer.
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge and skill in technology use of a computer.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically present.
- The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
