Hours: Camp dates June 9th – 27th and July 7th – 25th | 11:30 am - 4:30 pm, as well as a training session before camp and post-production tasks following it.
About the program: GRTV is offering a 6-week media production camp designed for high school-age students to get hands-on learning experiences in film, television news production, and podcasting/radio.
About the role: GRTV is currently seeking three individuals to instruct students on fundamental media-making techniques and guide them as they work on their film, podcast, and TV projects.
The role of Summer Camp Media Instructors includes serving as the main instructor for one of the three media topics, totaling two weeks out of the six-week camp. In this capacity, candidates will focus on their area of interest, which could include television and news production, podcasting and radio, or film production. During the remaining weeks, Summer Camp Media Instructors will transition into a supporting role, assisting the other instructors.
Successful candidates should possess a strong background in their chosen area of expertise and exhibit traits of leadership and good problem-solving. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the camp's educational objectives and engage with students in a dynamic learning environment throughout the summer program.
Responsibilities:
- Teach and facilitate activities as the main instructor for one of the three media topics (television and news production, podcasting and radio, or film production) during the June & July sessions of the summer camp.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons and workshops to students, ensuring they gain practical skills and knowledge in media production.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students, fostering their creativity and confidence in their chosen media field.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and camp staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students and promote active participation in all camp activities.
- During weeks when not serving as the main instructor, transition into a supporting role to assist students in acquiring new skills and reinforcing concepts learned.
- Offer constructive feedback and encouragement to students to help them improve their media production abilities.
- Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment, adhering to camp policies and procedures at all times.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other relevant events to stay informed and contribute to the overall success of the summer media camp.
Skills Required:
- Strong understanding and practical experience in either television and news production, podcasting and radio, or film production.
