The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse with advanced expertise in the field of clinical patient care management and has a passion for education. They serve as a mentor and resource for clinical staff, providing real-time training, assisting in developing educational programs, and ensuring competency through ongoing assessments. Through collaboration, they enhance patient care quality by implementing best practices, refining protocols, and assisting clinical educational initiatives across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possesses the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide expert nursing care.
- Acts as a role model and team leader within nursing departments, and as a general resource for all clinical personnel.
- Observes and reviews overall nursing care, and reviews documentation and incident reports to determine needs for process improvement.
- Takes action based upon clinical judgment and knowledge of current evidence based practice standards.
- Provides just in time training to staff in one-on-one and group settings.
- Co-teaches for Nurse Residency Program.
- Designs and conducts educational programs for clinical staff.
- Evaluates the efficacy of new and ongoing programs.
- Actively participates in ongoing improvement of educational projects across the organization.
- Helps organize and teach at annual skills fairs and other educational events.
- Assists with onboarding programs for new staff members, and other programs to keep existing staff up-to-date on skills and competencies.
- Helps manage the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Reviews existing, and assists with writing new, protocols and procedures.
- Collaborates with Training and Education Administrator, Chief Nursing Officer, and Nursing Department Directors to carry out practice standards, competencies, and staff education to enhance the quality of patient care.
- Must possess knowledge in both traditional and modern methods of training and development.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado.
- BSN or equivalent preferred but not required.
- BLS, ACLS and PALS certification required upon hire. BLS, ACLS and PALS Instructor certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Must maintain current status throughout employment.
- Minimum 4 years overall nursing experience preferred.
- Experience with clinical education preferred.
SALARY INFORMATION:
- $38.66 - $43.90 Dependent on experience may vary outside this range
- Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience
