What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registrar position at Grand River Health?
BASIC FUNCTION: Offer an exceptional patient experience at the reception area of Grand River Health Clinic West. The representative will provide support to clinical staff in order to facilitate the administrative components of clinical referrals for various services. They will serve as the first point of contact for patients within facility and the ideal candidate will portray Grand River in positive, professional light.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures patients have been cleared for specialty service office visits.
- Resolves pre-certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patient's appointment.
- Gathers pertinent information from insurance carriers, financial counselors, and other ancillary staff to make certain the patient's financial obligations for services provided.
- Acts as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors, and patients, or other referral sources.
- Enters referrals and documents communications, actions, and other data in an information system.
- Perform duties related to check in, check out, payment collection, and scheduling appointments.
- Maintain positive, professional, and helpful demeanor and always put patient needs first.
- Greet patients upon arrival and update all necessary patient information, including demographics and insurance information.
- Notify medical assistants of patient arrival and communicate with patient any delays.
- Offer a friendly environment at the end of the patient’s appointment, collect payment, schedule any necessary follow-up appointments, and coordinate patient orders and referrals.
- Be responsible for money collected and report accordingly.
- Scan paperwork into electronic systems. Schedule walk-in appointments as necessary.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Working experience in a similar role in a healthcare setting preferred.
SALARY INFORMATION:
- $17.50 -$19.50 Dependent on Experience
- 10% differential in addition to base rate salary
