SUMMARY

The Grand Sierra Resort Facilities Department is seeking a qualified Lead Certified Pool Operator-Engineer that will be responsible for maintaining the swimming pools, spa, and other bodies of water throughout the property. This includes being responsible for checking chemicals in the swimming pools and spa and having a thorough knowledge of pools and pool related equipment. An understanding of current codes and practices established by health codes and current national aquatic certification agencies. Testing and adjusting water chemistry to meet standards for oxidation and sanitation, and the ability to inspect and insure the cleanliness and appearance of the general pool areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following (Other duties may be assigned) :

  • Maintaining the chemical factor of pool and spa water.
  • Maintain clean surroundings of the pool area, including removing debris and trash in the pool area.
  • Provide friendly customer service to hotel guests using the pool and spa areas.
  • Maintaining the mechanical aspects of the pools, including the filtration, pumps, piping, water temperature, vacuums, and other related equipment.
  • Performing routine, annual maintenance, and preventative maintenance on the filtration systems and other related systems.
  • Ordering proper chemicals, and ensuring they are stored properly and safely.
  • Providing a safe environment for guests and Team Members. Report emergencies to the proper authorities.
  • Effectively communicate between multiple departments and shifts, including Entertainment, Pool Manager and Security to mitigate bio-hazard events.
  • Report any and all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous conditions to supervisor, security, and / or safety personnel.
  • Additional duties to include maintenance and repair of all building systems and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with other shifts to ensure follow-up with on-going projects or issues to minimize downtime, maximize efficiency and guest experience.
  • Respond to accident scenes and / or emergency calls, including fire alarms, smoke issues, or bio-hazard calls for any body of water.
  • All Property Operations Team Members may be required to assist in other job duties within the department at any time regardless of job classification.
  • Maintain daily records of work requests, water quality readings, and preventative maintenance work requests.
  • Hotel experience is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a track record of performing each essential responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience maintaining pools and related equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Team Members and guests.
  • Current Certified Pool Operator certification.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift, move, and / or carry items weighing up to 75 lbs., on an occasional basis.
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend (at neck & waist), climb, crawl, reach (above & below shoulder level), kneel, push / pull, twist (at neck and waist), and squat for duration of shift, walking 2-4 miles during an 8-hour shift. Simple / power grasping, repetitive use of the hands and fine hand manipulation is required to complete essential functions.

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
