Grand Steel in Wixom, MI is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to lead our sales team at a flat rolled steel service center and steel distribution company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel sales, a deep understanding of the flat rolled steel market, and the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies. This role requires leadership, customer relationship management, and a commitment to driving revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and implement sales strategies to expand market share and increase revenue.
- Identify new business opportunities and establish strong relationships with customers in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, construction, and fabrication.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to adapt sales approaches accordingly.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with customers to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive positioning.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sales representatives to achieve individual and team sales targets.
- Establish performance metrics and provide regular coaching, training, and feedback.
- Foster a high-performance sales culture with a focus on customer satisfaction and business growth.
Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with key customers, ensuring long-term business partnerships.
- Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Address customer concerns, resolve issues, and provide exceptional service to maintain high retention rates.
Operational & Reporting Responsibilities
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure product availability and competitive pricing.
- Analyze sales data, forecasts, and market conditions to provide strategic recommendations.
- Prepare and present sales reports to senior management, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in steel sales, preferably in flat rolled steel service centers or distribution.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of flat rolled steel products, processing, and market dynamics.
- Sales Expertise: Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets in the steel industry.
- Leadership Skills: Experience managing a sales team, setting goals, and driving performance.
- Communication & Negotiation: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to drive strategic decisions.
