We are currently seeking an HR Representative/Coordinator in our Charlevoix, MI location.
Full-time: Salaried
Wages commensurate with experience.
SUMMARY
The HR Representative/Coordinator for Bay Shore Steel Works will run the daily operations of the Human Resources department by maintaining interdepartmental communication, updating, and maintaining the HR Department’s filing system, onboarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave. They also educate employees on company policies and procedures, handle employee relations, and oversee exit documentation.
IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL:
- Provide staffing assistance to include recruitment, training, and skills analysis.
- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts
- Review and refresh job postings
- Review applications and resumes
- Provide weekly summary to hiring manager
- Schedule interviews and on-site visits
- Prepare offer letters & coordinate on-boarding process
- Payroll Processing and Administration.
- Assist in maintaining BSSW employee records.
- Serve as the point of contact for all HR inquiries from BSSW staff, including but not limited to benefits, Employment Opportunities, time off, etc.
- Attend job fairs to promote all BSSW positions.
- Assists with any rollouts and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Address any safety concerns and maintain compliance with annual OSHA reporting requirements.
- Facilitate any workers’ compensation claims, collecting all necessary documentation and submission of claims.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
- Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies.
- Maintain physical files for employee personnel records, benefits, attendance, worker’s compensation, and payroll.
- Conduct exit interviews

ADDITIONALLY, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO HAVE:
- Associates Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 3 years’ experience in Human Resources.
- 1 years’ experience in recruiting.
- Experience with employee relations.
- ADP experience a plus but not required.
- Organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid computer skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources field.
- Understanding of state and federal employment regulations.
- Awareness of OSHA regulations and compliance.
- Understanding of personnel and compliance records management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
