Position Overview:
This position is responsible for generating and growing business and/or hotel sales from assigned and self-identified markets. The emphasis is on the maximization of sales through proven business practices, innovative techniques and the development of new markets. The position may require travel in order to build the relationships that lead to increased opportunities
Career Pathing:
This role has potential to grow into a more senior sales position, depending upon the individual’s performance and their ability to exceed goals. Production is critical, as is the ability to work as a team with one’s colleagues. Assuming both production and teamwork are illustrated, this role will grow along with the property and company.
Duties & Responsibilities:

- Through prospecting, work to supplement inventory through proper selective selling guidelines and strive to maximize lodging and package rates with ADR and room night consumption at the forefront.
- Finding new business (largely through direct side visits/meetings) through strategic, innovative & detailed mapping of companies and target market account base.
- Negotiate business, develop and send proposals, book and contract business from assigned target territory and within set selling guidelines.
- Adhere to metrics & expectations; deliver performance measurables upon request
- May hire, supervise, mentor, and, if necessary, terminate
- Develop their ability to attain appropriate sales growth
- Evaluate their performance progress
- Must establish and maintain a positive, professional relationship with clients through effective, accurate, timely, and reliable communication.
- Dedicate time to direct sales and telephone prospecting.
- May be expected to make personal visits to target specific markets for new and past clientele with strong group meeting potential.
- Attend various meetings, i.e. Sales, Trade Shows pertinent to assigned territories, seminars and industry membership functions staying abreast of industry trends and making suggestions or recommendations regarding changes which would positively affect operations.
- Exemplify a positive can do attitude and lead by example. Foster and promote a cooperative working climate maximizing employee morale. Follow departmental grooming standards maintaining a professional image in dress and mannerism as well as wearing name-tag at all times.
- Maintain strong relationship with Front Desk and Reservations to make sure communication is seamless. Assist any department as necessary due to business levels; which may require additional physical activity.
- Responds to all correspondence from assigned areas and trace dates for reworking and follow up.
- Utilize all data currently in place to generate new leads while reporting and documenting sales success.
- Help develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to capture key demographics.

Job Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills and decision-making skills.
- Assertive, outgoing and self-motivating individual with pleasant personality who is able to work in a team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation skill needed.
- This position requires the ability to stand, and, walk, 4 to 5 hours at a time, climb stairs, reach, bend, taste, see, hear, smell and feel or touch.
- This position also requires computer knowledge for contracts, group descriptions, providing information, and other required tasks, which would require good manual dexterity.
- The position may also require the ability to lift over 50 pounds occasionally.
- The position may require travel.
Education and Experience:
- Two years hotel sales experience preferred.
- Sales Manager must be computer literate, with the knowledge to learn or adapt to new programs.
