Job Title: Clinical Director
Reports To: ASC Administrator
Location: Grandview Endoscopy Center
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the efficient management and function of the clinical departments, including high levels of productivity and cost-effective supply utilization.
- Direct the operation of the clinical departments and use available resources to adequately maintain the physical property and assets of the facility.
- Assures the daily operations of the clinical department always comply with local, state, federal regulatory requirements and the accrediting organization’s guidelines
- Develop job description for each category of nursing service
- Provide a thorough orientation for new nursing personnel including written verification of their competency
- Provide nursing expertise and supplement staffing, as needed, to assure safe care based on patient acuity and age specific criteria.
- In conjunction with the Administrator and Board, the Clinical Director shall help develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the implementation of clinical policies and procedures, which assure that cost effective, safe and high-quality care is implemented
- Establish and maintain excellent physician relationships, interact with physician’s offices and their leaders / staff to bring forward best outcomes for patients, and lead the Quality Assurance Council.
- Coordinates the Pharmacy Program, Risk Management activities, Employee Health activities, oversees the Quality Improvement Program, Materials Management, the Infection Control Program, Performance Improvement, Clinical Recruitment/Retention and Case Management
- Collect and analyze data that applies to surgical services to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders
- Participates in the selection of new staff members
- Verifies license and physical examinations of nursing staff to ensure they are current
- Responsible for scheduling of clinical staff to assure appropriate staffing levels based on patient volume
- Manages the performance of all clinical staff in providing superior patient care
- Conduct regular staff meetings and arranges regular in-service sessions with the clinical team
- Must be able to respond immediately and appropriately in the event of an emergency, think quickly and dispatch staff appropriately. This individual must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form as well as the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required
- Must hold a current RN license from the Alabama Board of Nursing
- BLS/ACLS/PALS required, as applicable
- CPAN, CAPA, and/or CNOR preferred
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, preferably in surgery or post anesthesia recovery areas
- Minimum 3 years clinical management experience, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) setting
