Granite County Medical Center is looking for the perfect fit to lead our Nursing Dept.
Responsible for the oversight, management and regulatory compliance of nursing and nursing support services delivered Granite County Medical Center and Drummond Clinic. Oversees staffing requirements, staffing education, onboarding and clinical quality of care to align with best practices. Ensures all nursing staff are operating within scope of practice and that all licensure and required certifications are keep up to date. Excellent communication, supervisory, and management skills required. Ability to work well under pressure, establish priorities and adapt to change. Ability to work with patients of all ages including elderly patient in long-term care. A self-motivated, creative, and positive personality. Ability to work with staff, family members, and community. Possess patience, good organizational skills, assertiveness, and be a conscientious person. Present a professional appearance. Be available for training, including overnight out of town events. Be flexible in working hours so that weekend or evening events may be provided.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Supports and practices the mission of the Granite County Medical Center.
- Supervises and directs the nursing care team of Granite County Medical Center.
- Demonstrates positive, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patients/residents, families, visitors, physicians, staff, and all others.
- Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient/resident care.
- Assumes responsibility for compliance with state/federal/local regulations and guidelines for nursing services in a Critical Access Hospital.
- Is an active participant in interdisciplinary teams to provide quality, comprehensive care to patients within the facility, including but not limited to: medical staff, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, physical therapy, dietary, environmental services, and activities.
- Develops/implements and annually reviews policies and procedures for the CAH related to clinical services.
- Supervises nursing staff and other staff included in the current organization leadership structure:
- Scheduling of nursing and nurse support staff.
- Bimonthly payroll review and approval to align with timely payroll completion expectations.
- Interviewing and hiring decisions aimed at elevating care quality and reducing labor costs.
- Termination decisions in consultation with human resources.
- Conducting 6 month probationary evaluations and annual evaluations for all direct reports.
- Coaching and discipline as required for optimal teamwork, safe and quality patient care, and alignment with policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with all leaders and staff at Granite County Medical Center to support safe and efficient care coordination, patient flow and ongoing quality improvement.
- Encourages a culture of accountability and safety event reporting. Timely investigation of safety events reported in CNO areas of supervision.
- Plans and directs safe and complete staff orientation customized to the needs of new employees based on knowledge and experience at time of hire and based on progression of orientation. Responsible for approving nurses' completion of nurse orientation prior to independent patient assignments
- Ensures licensed staff clinical competency is reviewed no less than annually.
- Owns creating clinical staff user accounts with correct user access in the electronic medical record by start of orientation for all direct reports as well as all other access needed by staff to be set up for success..
- Assists with the development and management of the nursing budget and approves invoices pertaining to staff contracts and approved expenses necessary to sustain operations.
Salary : $110,000 - $130,000
