CTE-Health Sciences Teacher

Job Summary
Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners, and productive citizens. Teachers maintain a safe environment; establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and do so in accordance with each student’s ability. Teachers differentiate curriculum and use effective research-based methods of instruction. Implement Proficiency-Based Grading in Student Evaluations.
Required Certification
A valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with a Medical Anatomy & Physiology or Nursing endorsement; OR
A valid Associate Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with a Medical Anatomy & Physiology or Nursing endorsement; OR
An equivalent license and endorsement in another state; OR
Completed coursework in each of the subject areas with a C or higher: 1) human anatomy or physiology with lab; 2) human physiology with lab or integrated anatomy and physiology; 3) medical terminology; OR
Documented, related, full-time occupational experience (e.g., nursing, EMT, athletic trainer, physical therapist) demonstrating the requirement in the coursework listed above.
In addition, the applicant must hold a current American Red Cross EMR Instructor Certification to teach the EMR course or be willing to obtain the certificate within the first year of hire.
