Essential Functions
- Recruits, assesses qualifications, employs, trains, and supervises certificated and non-certificated staff at the Hilda B. Jones Center, Granite Transition Services, Post High Programming (GT-SCORE and GT-SA).
- Responsible for program services, staff meetings, in-services, Special Education staff meetings, and other district meetings as requested by the Special Education Director.
- Participates in determining policy and practice for student discipline at the Hilda B. Jones Center.
- Participates in phone calls with parents, district staff, USBE, etc.
- Provides instructional leadership for programs supervised.
- Assist in budget preparation and presentation by the Special Education Director.
- Facilitates maintenance of vision and philosophy of programs supervised.
- Provides oversight of the identification, evaluations, placement, and provisions of the free appropriate public education (FAPE) of students in programs supervised.
- Build and Cultivate relationships with secondary school administrators, as well as stakeholders related to the programs serviced (i.e. staff, parents, district office personnel, groups utilizing meeting spaces at the Jones Center, Community Nursing Services, USBE, Adult service providers, and other government agencies.
- Promote public relations on a local/city level.
- Employment, Supervision, and Evaluation of program staff supervised.
- Manages parent relations within programs supervised.
- Manages student discipline in programs supervised.
- Manages budgetary decisions in programs supervised.
- Manages the facility and transportation needs of the Hilda B. Jones Center and the accompanying programs supervised.

- In-depth knowledge of the IDEA and its implementation as related to the GSD, USBE Special Education Rules and Regulations, and the accompanying LRBI policies; as well as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation ACT and its implementation.

- Fifty-eight (58) or more Contracted and Hourly Para Educators
- Eleven (11) or more Licensed Teachers
- One (1) or more Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- One (1) Technical Compliance Manager
- One (1) School Technology Specialist
- Other Departmental Staff as assigned by the Special Education Director
- Performance/supervisory evaluations of all employees under program supervision.
- Corrective disciplinary procedures of all employees under program supervision.
- Hiring new employees as positions become vacated of all employees under program supervision.
- Responsible for four (4) budgets:
- GT-SCORE
- GT-SA
- Jones Center
- Cafe
- Gift Shop
- Responsible for participation in planned spending activities annually for each budget to make recommendations for both the amount and category of budget expenditures.
- Responsible for authorizing expenditure of all funds in each of the above stated budgets.
- Balancing multiple programs, maintaining full staff, and keeping high instructional standards in each program can be stressful and time consuming.
- Requires work that may be frequently and unavoidably interrupted, which may delay some work assignments.
- Supervision of staff and students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
- Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, and telephone. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Required Training And Education
- Current USBE Teaching License with Administrative/Supervisory Endorsement required.
- Training in Special Education or Related Services preferred.
- Minimum of 2 consecutive years of building level school administration experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 consecutive years of Special Education or Related Services teaching experience required.
