Job Summary
The Teacher Specialist provides training and support for teachers, school mentors, and school-based instructional coaches in grades K-12. Responsibilities include assisting provisional teachers in fulfill requirements to move from an Associate Educator License to a Professional Educator License (including the PPAT assessment). The incumbent provides professional development and on-site support to school mentors and school instructional coaches. The position also provides induction for teachers new to Granite School District including on-boarding and Granite Way training. Finally, the position is responsible for providing support to teacher interns placed in elementary and secondary positions.
Essential Functions :
- Demonstrates knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and how to align to content areas to district teachers and specialists.
- Supports teachers and coaches by providing research-based instructional resources and support to ensure effective teacher implementation.
- Works closely with other district departments to provide continuity of instructional practices.
- Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding the student's academic and personal growth areas.
- Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are essential functions of this position.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in faculty meetings as required.
- Participate in appropriate educator evaluation procedures as per district guidelines.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community.
- Understand and adhere to laws, district policies, and procedures.
- Maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and members of the community.
- Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
