Title: Airport Technician
FLSA: Regular/ Full-time / Union Represented Upon Completion of Probation
Salary Range 25: Min. $28,216 Mid. $35,270
Reports to: Airport Manager or designee
Department: Airport
Probationary Status: Six (6) Months
Summary:
Under the direction of the Airport Manager or designee, performs duties relating to safe operation, inspection, maintenance, modification and upkeep of the Grant County Airport facilities and grounds, the safe fueling of aircraft as well as ensuring compliance with local, state and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent recognized certificate.
- Two (2) years full-time experience performing general maintenance, fueling and/or plumbing maintenance and repairs.
- Valid New Mexico State Driver’s License. Must have a good driving record to be insurable for liability purposes.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Establish safety procedures and methods, techniques and equipment commonly used in facility and grounds operations.
- If trained, maintain annual certification on ARFF apparatus.
- Operate personal computer, radio equipment, mobile devices, and related software.
- Perform basic math and accounting.
- Operation and maintenance of facility and runway equipment such as brush trucks, brush mowers, chain saw, push mowers, loaders and excavation equipment.
- Identification and handling of hazardous materials typically found in an airport environment.
- Learn regulatory aviation standards including, but not limited to, communication terminology, signage and lighting.
- Provide general cleaning of buildings and restrooms.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must successfully complete a conditional post-offer of employment physical examination.
- Subject to and must pass a post-offer of employment Drug & Alcohol Analysis Test.
- Following a conditional offer of employment, successfully complete background investigation, which may include, but is not limited to: drug & alcohol screen, criminal record search, driving record screening, reference check, and employment verification.
- Subject to and must satisfactorily complete a post-offer of employment background investigation
- Must not have any felony convictions or convictions involving immoral or unethical characteristics.
Work Conditions/Description of Tools, Equipment, Work Aids Used and Materials and/or Products Handled:
- The selected candidate will be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and must be available for call out.
- Skill in using basic hand and power tools as well as yard maintenance equipment.
- Essential duties are performed primarily outdoors under various weather conditions and when working indoors is under normal controlled temperature conditions.
- Employee may be exposed to precarious situations, fumes and airborne particles, potentially toxic and/or caustic chemicals, vicious insects and/or desert reptiles and extreme temperatures.
- Exposure to high levels of noise. This position requires working outside in a variety of
weather conditions with exposure to sun, heat, wind and rain.
