What are the responsibilities and job description for the Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate position at Grant County Unified Community Resource Council?
Homeless Shelter Advocate Position- Part Time
Salary: $14.75 per hour
The successful candidate will be empathetic, organized, and responsible. Must be able to mentor shelter residents while encouraging them to complete required activities to aide in the successful completion of the program. Must be able to communicate needs and assessments of the residents to the shelter director or the Executive Director of the GCUCRC non-profit. Confidentiality is required and discrimination of any person seeking assistance will not be tolerated.
Examples of job tasks:
- Answering the crisis hotline and performing intake duties for new residents
- Mentor/Assist clients with setting goals
- Aiding clients during difficult times by assessing current conditions, needs, strengths and weaknesses
- Maintaining accurate and confidential records
- Reporting client status
- Driving residents to work, scheduled appointments, and other locations as necessary
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and provide proof of current auto insurance as a condition of employment.
Full-Time employees will be eligible for vacation and sick leave. No employer paid healthcare benefits for employees.
