Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal Assistant to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in various legal matters, especially civil litigation matters, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and organized. This role is essential in maintaining the efficiency of our legal operations and providing exceptional service to our clients.
Duties
- Assist attorneys with the preparation and organization of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Manage and maintain document management systems, ensuring that all files are up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw to gather relevant case law and statutes.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately to maintain client records and case files.
- Support civil litigation processes by preparing necessary documentation and client correspondence.
- Collaborate with team members on patent law matters by preparing filings and managing deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal ethics.
- Correspond with attorney's offices and Judicial Assistants.
Requirements
- Be able to type at least 60 words per minute.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in conducting legal research using Westlaw or similar databases.
- Ability to perform data entry tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Preferences
- Experience in a legal administrative role or as a paralegal assistant is preferred.
- Familiarity with document management systems such as LEAP is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour
