What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal/Legal Assistant position at Scruggs, Carmichael & Wershow?
Duties:
· Answer phone; client intake and questions
· Hearing and event scheduling with the Court, attorneys, and clients
· Maintain attorney calendar
· File pleadings and documents through Florida Eportal
· Attorney File Maintenance
· Maintain attorney’s books through legal accounting program
Experience
· Prior legal experience mandatory; paralegal certification preferred but not required
· Organizational skills
· Proficiency at Word, Excel, and Outlook/Microsoft Office
Expectations
This is an established litigation practice in the area of civil litigation. You will be expected to keep the attorney’s calendar, maintain case files, draft and file legal documents and pleadings. You will also be on the phone a lot with clients, other attorney’s offices and the Court. Organizational skills and people skills are a must. The most important issue you will deal with is maintaining and making sure no deadlines are missed.
We will provide training and do not expect who we hire to know everything on the first day, just to be willing to learn.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
