What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equine Associate position at Grant's Farm?

Grant’s Farm is looking for a Clydesdales Stables/Equine Handler that will primarily be responsible for grooming, preparing and handling equines for photos with guests and public displays. This person will also assist guests and answer questions while working in the stables, the photo experience, and tours. The successful person in this role will also be responsible for the daily cleaning of stables and their surrounding areas, routine feedings and care, and closing duties as scheduled.

Essential Job Duties

  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of the animal enclosures, barns, and fencing.
  • Observing animals for illness, injury, or changes in behavior.
  • Assisting with the Budweiser Clydesdale tours and photo experience.
  • Educating guests about Equines as necessary.
  • Following guidelines on the safe handling of equines.
  • Collaborate with other staff and Lead Team Members on projects.
  • Maintaining main stables and carriage house and assisting with events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift or carry 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, lift, walk, carry for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk distances over uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, inclement weather, cold, etc

Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferred one year of equine experience
  • Must be able to handle horses around public
  • Must be able to recognize illness in animals and know how to respond accordingly
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a strong sense of personal integrity and attention to detail.
  • Must have a sense of team spirit and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must have a desire to learn
  • Must be able to communicate well with co-worker and be a team player, while also being self-motivated and able to work independently and time manage

Salary : $29,900 - $37,900
