What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources / Payroll Coordinator position at Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center?
Position Summary:
Grassroots is seeking an HR / Payroll Coordinator which will support Human Resources and Payroll services to the organization in the handling of health benefits processing, payroll, staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, separation, and legal compliance matters. Standard hours for this position will be Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm and is 100% on site.
Qualified candidates for this position must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or other related coursework from an accredited institution.
- Three to five (3 - 5) years’ experience of Payroll / HR functions, preferably in non-profit environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintain payroll processes as well as develop systems to process payroll account transactions.
- Address issue and questions regarding payroll from employees and supervisors.
- Provide quality customer service to maintain utmost level of customer retention.
- Process payroll changes and updates including hours worked, additional earnings, tax deductions, holidays, employee benefits, new hire details, salary updates and termination data.
- Process payroll for the organization during each pay cycle securing time sheets, certifying accuracy, and preparing them by Grassroots deadlines.
- Complete reconciliation of monthly invoicing.
- Administration of payroll-related policies & procedures.
- Assist in maintaining personnel files, including doctor’s notes, and counseling memos (current and historical).
- Assist employees with leave questions based on employee handbook policies.
- Assists the Director of Human Resources with external employment verification requests.
- Associate with state, local, and federal tax organizations in lieu of customers to find solutions to issues.
- Handle and organize a constructive working relationship with customer, vendors, agencies and other staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial data and personnel record keeping.
- May take part in organizing departmental training sessions to help develop and support employee growth and performance.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel and other database management tools.
- Knowledge of PayChex Flex is required.
- Excellent verbal, writing, and organizational skills.
- Display of professionalism in maintaining confidentiality of records, financials, and all relevant company materials.
- Display of professional dexterity and empathy in organizational setting.
Work Conditions:
- Flexible work schedule is required.
- Overnight travel is not required.
