What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Assistant- PT position at Grassroots Crisis Intervention?
Position Summary:
Grassroots has an opening for 2-Kitchen Assistants to assist the Food Service Manager and Cook in food preparation, serving food, kitchen clean up, sanitization, and inventory control.
Schedule is 1st week - Tuesday to Friday 2:30 to 7:30 pm
2nd week- Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 7:30 pm
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs in preparing meals and plating dishes as required.
- Serves meals to residents following all health and kitchen safety requirements.
- Keep the kitchen area clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Handle food storage, rotation, and disposal in compliance with food safety standards.
- Assist in inventory control and order kitchen supplies as needed.
- Carry out basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and cutting ingredients.
- Dispose of kitchen waste responsibly and maintain sanitation standards.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Provide support to on-site meal volunteers.
- Accept donations from the community.
- Other duties as assigned.
Agency-wide Responsibilities:
- Reads 100% of all email communications and responds to emails in a timely manner during their shifts.
- Participates in supervision, in-service training, and staff meetings.
- Maintains good working relationships with co-workers and positively contributes to group morale.
- Completes all administrative duties including time sheets, leave requests, etc.
- Participates in special task forces, committees, or special projects as needed.
- Uses appropriate channels of communication to resolve conflicts with other staff.
- Interacts with staff, consumers, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
- Food preparation experience is required.
- Servsafe certification is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work with meal volunteers.
- Ability to work with a diverse resident population.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Work Conditions:
- Requires standing for long periods of time.
- Holiday coverage may be required.
- Kitchen cleanup is required.
- Overnight travel is not required
Job Type: Part-time
