Gratiot Integrated Health Network (GIHN) has an immediate opening for a grant funded part-time Crisis Support Partner, to provide crisis intervention services in the community.
The Crisis Support Partner is responsible for enhancing individual and family engagement in the mental health treatment process while providing direct support during crisis situations. This role focuses on fostering meaningful involvement in treatment and ensuring effective crisis response.
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Occasional Weekends
PAY RANGE: $19.12 - $24.81

Essential Functions.

1. Responsible for the provision of peer-driven service to consumers which emphasizes personal safety, self-worth, choice, confidence, growth, connection, boundary setting, planning, self-advocacy and personal fulfillment, crisis management, education, daily living activities and effective communication skills.
2. Assists with identifying resources for medical, social, educational, financial, recreational and other services, and encourages the identification of natural supports in the community.
3. Promotes individual self-determination and recovery. Encourages the development of consumer’s decision-making skills, problem-solving techniques and communication skills.
4. Serves as a consumer advocate and works to establish mutual trust and respect with consumers and their families through ongoing support and encouragement.
5. Serves as an equal member of the crisis response team, supporting individuals and families during times of crisis and serving as a co-responder on the Intensive Crisis Stabilization Services team.
6. Travels with consumers to appointments, when needed.
7. Shares recovery and common experiences with consumers in class and/or on an individual basis, when appropriate.
8. Completes all required documentation within designated time frames, according to content standards.
9. Assists consumers with understanding their rights and responsibilities as recipients of mental health services.
10. Protects the security, confidentiality and integrity of all protected health information in a manner that is consistent with HIPAA, MDHHS and GIHN policy and procedure.
11. Assures consumers’ rights are protected and recipient rights procedures are followed throughout GIHN and its provider network.
12. Attends and actively participates in GIHN required training as well as seeks external education opportunities for professional growth and development.
13. Abides by all applicable GIHN policies and procedures.
14. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
15. Performs work and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Competencies.
Must demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques which reflect an understanding and awareness of trauma and social, cultural and economic diversity of the target population served. GIHN employees will actively support the goal of person centered planning and integrated care through the recovery process and will acknowledge and develop competencies to support the understanding of the complexities of the human condition and the manner in which physical health, substance use disorders and physical and/or emotional trauma are interrelated to the need for mental health services. Must demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must demonstrate competency in crisis de-escalation techniques and a strong understanding of how to navigate the crisis services continuum.
Supervisory Responsibility.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment.
This job operates in a professional office environment and may also operate in satellite locations such as the local hospital, county jail or consumer’s home. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work.
This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed but the employee is expected to be available during the core works hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some evening hours and weekends may be required.
Travel.
This job requires travel throughout Gratiot County, and may possibly require some additional travel for training and/or conferences.
Required Education and Experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent. This person must be a current or previous recipient of mental health and/or SUD services and must be in active recovery for a period no less than two years. A valid Michigan driver’s license and automobile insurance is required to operate agency vehicles or to transport any GIHN consumer. Previous exposure to crisis systems and crisis interventions preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience.
Three years of work experience in the mental health field.
